History:
Lambert Engineering Company was founded in 1983 as a civil and structural engineering firm. The company has provided services for numerous projects of varying complexity, ranging from inspection / evaluations to construction plans and specifications. Clients include architects, building contractors, industry, government agencies, and private owners. Richard Lambert is a 1975 civil engineering graduate of North Carolina State University and a registered professional engineer in North and South Carolina and Georgia. Mr. Lambert retired from the Corps of Engineers in 2008 with 30 years of experience as a structural design engineer for both the Army Corps of Engineers and Naval Facilities Engineering Command. While employed by the Department of Defense, he was been responsible for the design of barracks, office buildings, warehouses, and maintenance buildings at various defense sites throughout the southeast, including Fort Jackson, SC, the Savannah River Site in Aiken, SC, Marine Corps installations in Beaufort, SC and Naval installations in New Orleans, LA and elsewhere throughout the nation. Since launching his private engineering practice, he has performed the structural design for a wide range of building projects in the Charleston area. Mr. Lambert's previous experience was with the North Carolina Department of Transportation, in highway planning, roadway and bridge design. Mr. Lambert has extensive experience with computer aided design and drafting systems in the production of engineering projects, including AutoCad drawing software and STAAD structural design software. In addition, he has written many programs to automate most routine structural computations, thus saving time and improving accuracy of design.

Products/Services:
CIVIL ENGINEERING - Services include the production of plans and specifications for commercial, industrial and residential projects. Site plans for commercial and industrial projects include grading, drainage, and erosion control requirements. Parking, screening, and planting improvements are normally provided. Other available civil design services include roadway design, dam and pond design, and subdivision design. Civil consultation services include coordination with the appropriate government agencies to obtain approvals, permits, and variances.

STRUCTURAL ENGINEERING - Services include the analysis and design of structures to produce construction documents for commercial, industrial, and residential projects. Construction documents include plans, details, and specifications for the building frame and foundation. The structural analysis and design is performed using finite element computer methods. Complex structures are modeled in three dimensions with all applicable loads and combinations analyzed. Structures are designed and detailed to withstand hurricane and earthquake loads, in addition to all other normal floor loadings. Structural members are selected to satisfy the loading requirements, codes and for optimum efficiency with the aid computer technology, resulting in accurate and cost effective designs. Design and drafting is produced using computer drafting systems and base drawings are available in digital format or plotted at any scale.

COASTAL / MARINE ENGINEERING - Complete services are provided including site selection and analysis for the planning phase to project plans and specifications for the construction phase. Computer modeling of coastal projects provides for extensive analysis during the design development phase resulting in accurate and efficient designs. Permit applications and drawings required by government agencies are also produced.

CIVIL / STRUCTURAL FORENSICS - Lambert Engineering offers civil and structural forensic  services.  Systems are analyzed to determine structural integrity, stability and building code compliance. Clients are provided a comprehensive written report that outlines observations, conclusions reached upon evaluation, and recommendations for corrective action, if required.  Owners are provided detailed information to assist with making informed decisions with respect to initial purchase, maintenance and  repair, insurance claims, and litigation.

VALUE MANAGEMENT - Value Study Facilitation and Structural Team Member, employing value methodology to conduct an organized study of functions to improve project value using applied creativity. Value teams follow the process: information gathering, function analysis, speculation, analysis, development and presentation to study projects and make value improvement recommendations.
